Baseten, the AI inference company powering the world’s most advanced AI products, has named Sheila Vashee its new Chief Marketing Officer. The company announced the Baseten Chief Marketing Officer appointment today. Vashee most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer at Figma. She brings two decades of experience building and scaling marketing, growth, and go-to-market organizations. Her background spans Figma, Ethos, Opendoor, and Dropbox.
Meanwhile, Baseten has been building an experienced leadership team at a rapid pace. The team is developing the intelligence infrastructure stack that powers AI and enterprise leaders. These include Cursor, Harvey, HubSpot, Lovable, Notion, Vercel, and Wayfair. The company serves thousands of customers. In addition, it processes 40–50 trillion tokens per day. Its infrastructure spans 90 clusters and 20 clouds globally. Baseten also reported 20X YoY revenue growth in June 2026.
Vashee joins several recent executive hires. Matt Slagle (CRO), Gabe Stern (Chief Legal Officer), Sameer Paranjpye (Head of Engineering), and Vivek Patel (Head of Compute) all joined earlier this year.
“Sheila is a proven leader with an incredible track record of elevating beloved, product-led technology companies into defining market leaders. The growth and scale she’s seen in spades, together with her mastery of community, brand, and growth will be a major accelerant as we increasingly become the de facto inference provider powering the open frontier,” said Baseten CEO Tuhin Srivastrava.
Sheila Vashee’s Track Record in Marketing and Growth
Vashee spent three years at Figma. There, she led marketing, customer support, communications, brand, and growth. During her tenure, the company crossed $1B in revenue and completed its IPO. Furthermore, Figma doubled its product lineup and built out its growth motion. The team also expanded support and operations and strengthened its enterprise business.
Before Figma, Vashee served as VP of Growth at Opendoor. She oversaw growth across the buyer and seller marketplace. As a result, Opendoor grew from four to 21 markets. It also reached billions in GMV within a few years.
Earlier still, she was the second marketing hire at Dropbox. In that role, she helped 12x the Dropbox user base to 600M users. Dropbox also passed >$1 billion in revenue during that period.
Vashee expressed strong confidence in Baseten’s direction as the new Baseten Chief Marketing Officer.
“AI is still in its early innings, and the scale to which it will grow is beyond what we can comprehend. Baseten’s vision and execution around inference and broader intelligence infrastructure has placed it squarely at the center of this tectonic shift,” said Baseten CMO Sheila Vashee. “What truly captivated me was seeing how the community and ecosystem surrounding Baseten has coalesced in parallel with the company’s growth. Companies are only beginning to understand what intelligence can unlock, and Baseten has been steadily building the infrastructure to make that possible.”
