Forcepoint has appointed Vincent Merlin as Chief Marketing Officer. The company announced the leadership change as it expands its AI data security strategy. Merlin will report directly to Forcepoint CEO Ryan Windham. He will oversee the company’s global marketing operations and strategic initiatives.
His responsibilities will cover brand, demand generation, product marketing, and analyst relations. He will also help Forcepoint define the emerging AI data security category. The company aims to help enterprises maintain control over AI. At the same time, Forcepoint wants organizations to use their most valuable intelligence effectively.
Merlin brings extensive experience in global marketing and growth leadership. Before joining Forcepoint, he spent 10 years at Proofpoint in senior marketing positions. Most recently, Merlin served as Senior Vice President of Global Growth Marketing at Proofpoint. His role covered the company’s worldwide marketing organization and inside sales operations.
During his tenure, Merlin helped develop Proofpoint’s global growth engine. He also supported AI-led transformation as the company expanded significantly. Proofpoint grew from approximately $400 million to more than $2.4 billion in annual recurring revenue. Merlin played a senior marketing role during that period of business expansion.
Merlin Brings Global Marketing Experience
Before Proofpoint, Merlin held global and regional marketing leadership positions at AVEVA. He also worked in marketing leadership roles at Dell EMC and RSA. His background includes experience across technology marketing, cybersecurity, and global growth. Therefore, his appointment adds significant industry expertise to Forcepoint’s leadership team.
Merlin holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He also earned an engineering degree in quantum photonics and optics. Forcepoint expects his experience to support its broader AI data security objectives. The company is building its position around secure and controlled enterprise AI adoption.
“The next decade won’t be won by organizations using the most AI. It will be won by those that never lost control of it. Vincent’s global expertise will help our customers and partners see what command of AI makes possible.” Forcepoint CEO Ryan Windham
Windham also highlighted the changing role of trust within modern enterprises. He said organizations must manage AI interactions with data more carefully.
“Trust used to be a posture, and it is becoming a deliverable for the agentic enterprise: every AI interaction with data governed, every decision recorded, every time,” said Windham. “The next decade won’t be won by organizations using the most AI. It will be won by those that never lost control of it. Vincent’s global go-to-market expertise will help our customers and partners see what command of AI makes possible.”
The leadership appointment comes as enterprises accelerate their use of artificial intelligence. Consequently, organizations face growing demands around data protection and AI governance. Forcepoint aims to address these challenges through its AI data security approach. The company wants enterprises to adopt AI without losing control over sensitive information.
Forcepoint Strengthens AI Security Leadership
Merlin said organizations have repeatedly adopted major technologies before fully understanding their security requirements.
“Every technology worth adopting showed up before anyone knew how to secure it. The web, email, the cloud,” said Merlin. “Companies moved anyway, and the ones that moved early could because somebody made it survivable. Forcepoint is doing that for AI, giving enterprises the confidence to put their best information to work while staying in control. That’s why I’m here.”
His comments underline Forcepoint’s focus on making AI adoption more manageable. They also reinforce the company’s emphasis on enterprise control and data protection. Meanwhile, Merlin’s global marketing background will support Forcepoint’s growth efforts. His responsibilities will connect brand strategy with demand generation and product marketing.
Additionally, his experience with analyst relations will help communicate Forcepoint’s position in the cybersecurity market. The company will continue developing its AI data security category as enterprise AI adoption grows.
The appointment also reflects the increasing importance of marketing leadership within cybersecurity companies. Technology providers must communicate both innovation and security as businesses adopt AI. Forcepoint will use Merlin’s experience to strengthen its global marketing strategy. The company will also continue helping enterprises put AI capabilities to work while maintaining control.
