Google has launched a feature in Gmail that allows users to change their email addresses. Until now, Gmail users were not allowed to change their email addresses after their accounts were created. But Google has just made this option available for a few users as a trial. So, users can now change their old Gmail address without making a new account. The new Gmail address change feature helps Google make user accounts more flexible and easier to manage long-term. First, users have to go to their Google Account settings via a web browser. Next, they need to click on the “Personal info” tab. After this, users have the option to select the email category that is associated with Gmail.

In case the user meets the criteria, Google will provide a choice to alter the Gmail username. Nevertheless, Google limits this feature to specific accounts only. As an illustration, accounts created via a workplace, school, or family group may not qualify. Besides that, users with Google Workspace accounts are not allowed to change their Gmail addresses. Also, Google recommends that users pick a unique and available username. The old Gmail address will be forever unavailable once the change has been made. Hence, users are obliged to think over the new address very carefully before confirming it.
