NotiCentro Orlando has launched a dedicated local news operation for Central Florida’s growing Latino community. WAPA Orlando 26, powered by Entravision, officially launched the new newsroom on September 8.
The goal of this new venture is to offer culturally relevant journalism to the Hispanic community in Central Florida. NotiCentro Orlando will air four newscasts on weekdays from Monday to Friday. These newscasts will be shown at 5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, 10:00 PM, and 10:30 PM. Consequently, viewers will get a chance to access the local and regional news.
Central Florida has one of the largest and fastest-growing Puerto Rican populations nationwide. NotiCentro Orlando will serve this audience through dedicated newsroom coverage.
NotiCentro Orlando Builds Dedicated Newsroom
The newsroom will focus on important developments across Central Florida. At the same time, it will cover major stories from Puerto Rico, Washington, D.C., and other parts of the world. This approach will connect local audiences with significant national and international developments.
NotiCentro Orlando also has an array of seasoned broadcast journalists. Jorge Viera is the main anchorman of the new station. Viera is an accomplished journalist who won the Emmy and is a five-time winner of the Golden Microphone. He previously anchored Univision 41’s top-rated newscast in New York.

He is also nationally recognized for his coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic. The multimedia team in the area comprises Laura Isabel Pérez, Luis A. Marcano García, and Laura Bermúdez. Laura Isabel Pérez is an Emmy-nominated and Telly Award-winning journalist based out of San Sebastián, Puerto Rico.
Marcano García is a bilingual multimedia journalist who hails from Naranjito, Puerto Rico. Marcano García has prior experience in production and journalism from Orlando and other national networks. Bermúdez, on the other hand, has received four Telly Awards and has been nominated for a Suncoast Emmy Award.

The meteorologist team will comprise Ivet Vidal and Daynier Escalante. These two people will be responsible for providing local weather updates. Besides this, the station will still go on with its politics shows and other shows that address issues facing the Latino community in Orlando. This is evident from the fact that there will be Politics con Acento with Stephanie Ochoa.
