Otter.ai Appoints Alex Gay as Chief Marketing Officer as Company Expands Beyond AI Notetaking

Otter.ai Names Alex Gay Chief Marketing Officer

Otter.ai has appointed Alex Gay as Chief Marketing Officer as Otter.ai expands beyond the AI notetaking category. Gay will oversee the company’s marketing globally in several areas. He will be responsible for brand, product marketing, demand creation, and communications. On the other hand, Otter.ai is increasingly establishing itself in the enterprise world. The company also intends to explore the use of AI to capture and activate organizational knowledge.

Gay is going to contribute to the shaping of Otter.ai’s brand and go-to-market strategy in this upcoming phase. The company intends to evolve from providing transcription services to offering conversational knowledge. Otter.ai at present caters to more than 40 million professionals around the world. This means that the company operates in an evolving market of workplace applications powered by AI. Businesses are becoming increasingly keen on discovering ways of capturing knowledge from meetings and business discussions. In this way, Otter.ai wants to enable businesses to integrate and leverage that knowledge. Gay has extensive marketing experience spanning over 20 years.

Otter.ai Strengthens Its Enterprise Marketing Strategy

Most recently, Gay was working as the Vice President of Product and Corporate Marketing at Superhuman. Prior to that, Superhuman was operating under the Grammarly brand name. At Superhuman, Gay was responsible for managing product marketing, growth marketing for customers, and go-to-market strategy.

“I’m thrilled to join Otter at such a transformational moment for the company and for the category,” said Alex Gay. “Voice is one of the richest, most underutilized sources of knowledge inside every organization. As AI accelerates the pace of business, unlocking that voice data gives teams access to the most up-to-date decisions, plans, and insights. I’m looking forward to building a brand and marketing organization that matches the ambition of the product.”

“We’re delighted to welcome Alex to Otter at such an exciting time for the company,” said Sam Liang, co-founder and CEO of Otter.ai. “Alex brings a rare combination of brand craft and product marketing rigour from his time at Superhuman/Grammarly and Adobe. As we scale Otter into the enterprise, Alex will help us tell that story clearly and build a marketing engine to match our growth.”

Prior to becoming part of the Superhuman team, Gay held high-profile marketing roles at Adobe. In addition, Gay received his MBA degree from Edinburgh Business School. As Liang stated, Gay will assist in growing Otter.ai’s presence in the enterprise space. Furthermore, Gay will help in communicating the vision of the company in the wider marketplace. Overall, this hiring move comes amid Otter.ai’s growing presence in enterprise AI.
