The Canadian Association of Optometrists Celebrates Vision Health Month through Online Campaign Motivating Canadians to “GetEyeWise”

The Canadian Association of Optometrists celebrates Vision Health Month

The Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO) marks the start of Vision Health Month this May. They launched the GetEyeWise online campaign with sponsorship support from Alcon. The New Brunswick Association of Optometrists is joining the campaign. The Nova Scotia Association of Optometrists also supports this initiative. Additionally, the Prince Edward Island Association of Optometrists is participating. This Vision Health Month aims to improve overall wellness across the country.

Professional Care and Disease Prevention

Getting a comprehensive eye exam can actually reveal far more than just a change in your vision. These checkups are often the first line of defense in spotting serious health issues like diabetes or cardiovascular disease. They can even help doctors detect certain neurological conditions that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Through the GetEyeWise campaign, the goal is to show exactly why these regular visits are so necessary for your overall well-being. It’s during these appointments that optometrists are able to diagnose and treat various eye disorders, keeping your health on the right track. The campaign encourages Canadians to prioritize their health. It specifically addresses people who have trouble with fine print. These efforts ensure vision care remains a top priority.

“Maintaining good eye health is important for clear vision, but your eyes are also a window into your overall health,” said Dr. Allison Scott, President of the Canadian Association of Optometrists. “Seeing an optometrist should be a regular part of everyone’s health care routine, from infants to seniors.”

The campaign will run throughout May and June. It will appear on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Content is available in both English and French. The CAO is the national voice of optometry in Canada. They represent more than 8,400 members across the country. This campaign helps Canadians take charge of their health. Regular eye exams are vital for patients of all ages.
