KATE Introduces “KABUKE: Break Convention” Kabuki-Inspired International Campaign

KATE Launches KABUKE Break Convention Kabuki-Inspired International Campaign

KATE has launched its Kabuki-inspired campaign titled “KABUKE: Break Convention” for global audiences. The Kabuki-inspired campaign blends tradition with modern beauty innovation. Moreover, it highlights self-expression through shadow-enhancing makeup rooted in Japanese aesthetics.

This campaign was launched on July 8, 2026, using global media outlets. This includes images, a concept movie, and an online site. Furthermore, it includes Kabuki artist Ukon Onoe. With this Kabuki-themed campaign, the company reiterates its slogan “NO MORE RULES”.

KATE, from its inception, has always questioned traditional standards of beauty. This is why the brand remains true to itself by supporting uniqueness and confidence. The shadow makeup technique, which is famous for KATE, works with the help of light and shadows.

KATE Combines Japanese Tradition with Modern Beauty Expression

However, the combination of makeup with Kabuki seems strange at first glance. Nonetheless, both have common origins in terms of their strong artistry. In addition, Kabuki is characterized by the attitude toward the world, which is embodied in “Kabuku.” The term implies going against conventional standards, which suits the concept of KATE. The brand uses the principles of the traditional Kabuki makeup called Kumadori. Namely, it utilizes light blue colors in the shadows. Thus, the color adds volume to the look and makes it impressive.

Moreover, KATE is able to link the cultural heritage with cosmetic innovation in the modern world. In fact, the kabuki-inspired advertising campaign spreads a message of uniqueness worldwide. At the same time, it shows that makeup is a means of self-expression. It should be noted that Ukon Onoe plays an essential role in conveying this idea.

Moreover, there have been product launches to coincide with the campaign by KATE. These include Smooth Fit Pressed Powder and Real Shading Stick. The launch will be on July 25, 2026. This product will be launched in Japan and other Asian markets such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, & the Philippines.
