Gametime Expands Growth Using Algolia, an AI Search and Retrieval Platform

Gametime Accelerates Growth with AI Search

Finding tickets at the very last second just got much easier for sports, comedy, theater and music fans. Gametime has officially teamed up with the Algolia AI Search and Retrieval platform to power its marketplace. The results arrived almost immediately after the launch. In only three months, the company beat its target for a 2% lift in conversions. Now, fans can find the right seats instantly, even when a game starts in minutes.

The switch solved a major headache for the internal engineering team. Previously, generalist engineers had to waste time manually tuning search results. The new AI Search and Retrieval platform handles that work automatically. This allows the developers to focus on building better features for the app instead. Algolia currently manages over 1.75 trillion queries for 18,000 different businesses.

“In the world of last-minute ticketing, discovery must be instant,” said Turk Anwar, Lead Product Manager at Gametime. “Our previous search infrastructure required constant manual tuning and specialized expertise. That simply wasn’t sustainable. Algolia delivered the speed, scalability, and ease of management we needed, without requiring a team of search engineers.”

Enhancing Discovery with Real-Time Data

The app now uses Algolia Rules to highlight events based on a fan’s location. It also uses Dynamic Re-Ranking (DRR) to show the most relevant tickets first. Behind the scenes, the Insights API captures engagement patterns like clicks and successful conversions. This data ensures the Gametime team can continuously refine search performance.

Today, the AI Search and Retrieval platform connects fans to over 140,000 live events. This includes 5,000 different teams and artists across North America. Search is now fast, reliable, and requires very little manual work. Gametime can now scale its business with total confidence in its technology.
