Google has officially rolled out its new AI Mode across Search for all users in the United States. Announced three weeks ago at the Google I/O event, the feature has started appearing for users nationwide, including those browsing in incognito mode or while signed out of their accounts.
AI Mode introduces a dedicated tab within Search, designed to deliver an enhanced AI-driven interface. Google says this mode is ideal for queries that demand deeper exploration, reasoning, or comparisons. It helps users gain comprehensive insights without manually conducting multiple searches.
Leveraging a technique called “query fan-out,” AI Mode executes several related searches simultaneously across subtopics and sources, then compiles the results into a cohesive and detailed response. This method offers greater breadth and depth compared to standard search results.
Users can interact with AI Mode using text, voice, or images thanks to its multimodal capabilities. Additionally, it supports conversational follow-ups, similar to features seen in Google’s AI Overviews and Gemini.
Marketers and website owners may begin noticing changes in their Search Console metrics, as AI Mode data will be integrated into general web search reporting.
The widespread launch of AI Mode marks a significant shift in the evolution of Google Search, paving the way for similar global rollouts in the near future.
